Time / Warner RoadRunner Cable Modem Service | Real-Time Tests

Real-Time Testing

To see the history of Time/Warner RoadRunner failures (there are many), you can access an ongoing log of the traffic monitor. There are two monitors that run. They each poll the network once per minute by sending out a simple ICMP ping packet. If the pings return, the link is assumed good. If the pings do not return, the event is logged as a failure. This test was originally designed as a method of keeping track of how often the network was down so I could prorate my cable bill and only pay for the percentage of time the network was up. After repeated attempts to resolve the issue by both E-Mail (which I sent 09/12/2000 and was never responded to, in violation of FTC rules), phone calls to 1-877-892-2337, and a live "Tech Chat" available on the rr.com web site, I decided to make these test results public.

The links below may or may not be accessible to you, as they are hosted on a machine that is, unfortunally for it, on the RoadRunner backbone. The first log is generated by a monitor that pings a machine on the RoadRunner backbone. The second log is generated by a monitor that pings a machine somewhere off on the Internet (and therefore subject to whatever the Internet as a whole is doing at the time). I would expect the second monitor to be more active than the first.
